Spring in the Alps

It's only in the last decade that the Kinkades have been able to explore the wide world. Their first trips remain fresh in their memory, largely because of the brilliant artistic record Thom created along the way for his own pleasure, and to share with a delighted public.

The excitement of discovery in an encounter with a new land is simply unrivaled. Spring in the Alps fondly recalls such a maiden voyage. "In 1985," Thom remembers, "Nanette and I first traveled to the Alps, bringing with us naïve expectations that came from The Sound of Music. Astonishingly, we were not disappointed in our romantic hopes; we discovered numerous alpine scenes where Maria and the von Trapp children may well have sung and played."

A great peak, perhaps the famed Jungfrau, lends its snow-clad dignity to Spring in the Alps. In contrast, delicate alpine flowers bloom. Trees, standing as silent sentinels, link the timeless and ephemeral. The tranquility is unbroken.
